Chocolate Chip Gooey Bars

Bottom Layer

  • Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1 Egg
  • ½ cup Butter, melted

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 1 (8 oz.) package Cream Cheese, softened
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 (16 oz.) box Powdered Sugar
  • ½ cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Icing

  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350F; lightly grease 9×13’’ baking pan; using a mixer in a large bowl, add cake mix, egg, and butter; mix well
  2. Pat cake mix mixture into the bottom of prepared pan; set aside
  3. Using mixer and bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth; add eggs and vanilla
  4. Add powdered sugar and beat very well; reduce the speed of mixer and gradually add in melted butter; incorporate well
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips; pour cream cheese filling onto cake mixture and spread evenly
  6. Bake for 40-50 minutes; the center should be gooey, don’t over bake
  7. Remove from the oven and scatter the milk chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips on top of the bar and let sit several minutes to let them soften and melt; using a knife, spread the chocolate around covering the entire pan of bars
  8. Allow to cool for at least an hour, then cut into bars
