- 5 tablespoons Granulated Sugar
- 5 tablespoons Water
- 2 tablespoons Corn Syrup
- 1 cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
- 2 tablespoons Solid Vegetable Shortening
- 4 tablespoons Corn Syrup
- 8 ounces Unsalted Butter, softened
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
- 2 pounds (8 cups) Confectioner’s Sugar
- 4-6 tablespoons cold water, to adjust the consistency
- In small pot on stove, combine 5 tablespoons sugar, 5 tablespoons water, and 2 tablespoons corn syrup to make the simple syrup; boil for 2-3 minutes then pour into a bowl and allow to sit in the freezer to rapid cool
- In bowl of mixer, add cocoa powder and cooled but still warm simply syrup; mix until it forms a firm mass
- Add vanilla extract; add vegetable oil and solid vegetable shortening; mix well
- Add 4 tablespoons corn syrup and softened butter; mix until smooth
- Add the sifted confectioners sugar, little at a time; mix until smooth
- Slowly add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency
