Ingredients
Cake
- 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 Large Egg, beaten
- 1 cup Molasses
- 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Ground Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 cup Very Hot Water
Vanilla Cream Sauce
- 1 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F; grease a 9×13 inch pan with cooking spray
- In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until smooth; add the eggs and molasses; mix well
- In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients together; add dry ingredients to the wet mixture; stir to combine; slowly pour in the hot water; stir until smooth
- Pour batter into prepared pan; bake for 35-40 minutes until toothpick comes out clean;
- Vanilla cream sauce: add sugar, butter and whipping cream to a saucepan over medium heat; cook stir occasionally until butter is melted
- Bring mixture to a boil; boil, stir frequently for 3-5 minutes; remove from heat; add vanilla
- Allow to cool before pouring over cake; top with sliced bananasÂ
